The Head of the Civil Aviation Authority, Abdul Rahman bin Youssef, discussed with the British ambassador to Libya, Martin Longden, ways to restore flights between Libya and the United Kingdom (UK), especially in cities with large numbers of the Libyan community.
Longden promised to communicate with the competent authorities in his country to facilitate the task of the Authority, and praised the advanced technical level and important changes in Libyan civil aviation in the field of aviation safety monitoring in accordance with international rules and standards, according to a statement by the Authority on its Facebook page on Monday.
The meeting discussed the general performance rates in implementing plans to meet international requirements to lift the European ban on Libyan aircraft, and the assistant head of the Authority gave a detailed presentation on the completed stages of the comprehensive digital transformation project to address the requirements and shortcomings in civil aviation, which reached a completion rate of about 90%.
The meeting also reviewed the negative effects of the announcements issued by some countries regarding the low level of security and the continued classification of Libya as a conflict zone, which had been hindering efforts to restore flights to Libyan airspace.
