Foreign Minister: Libya Stability Initiative aims to support elections, end obstacles

The Libyan Foreign Minister, Najla Al-Mangoush, said Sunday that the goal of the “Libya Stability Initiative” is to create an environment in Libya for positive economic competition so there can be a united international stance toward Libya ahead of December 24 elections.

Al-Mangoush added that the “Libya Stability Initiative” aims to implement the UN Security Council resolutions (2570 and 2571) as well as Berlin I and Berlin II Conference conclusions, saying it also targets two vital bases: military and security track and economic track.

“This will happen by giving support for the 5+5 Joint Military Commission (JMC) in order to implement the ceasefire agreement in full and backing up serious efforts to unify the Libyan army.” She added.

Al-Mangoush indicated that the the “Libya Stability Initiative” aims to provide technical support for integrating armed fighters who ae not involved in terrorist attacks or criminal acts into civilian institutions, not to mention the withdrawal of foreign forces and mercenaries who pose threat to Libya and the region.

She reaffirmed that the “Libya Stability Initiative” wants to rally support for the transitional justice and national reconciliation, including the work of the Libyan Supreme Commission for National Reconciliation, and raising tolerance and human rights awareness instead of hatred, radicalisms and regionalism.
