Libyan Ministry of Justice urges Lebanon to release Hannibal Gaddafi

The Libyan Ministry of Justice has urged the authorities in Lebanon to provide Hannibal Gaddafi with his basic rights, including his rights for a place of detention, healthcare, visits and out-of-detention correspondence.

This call comes after Lebanese media have published photos showing where Gaddafi’s son is being held in Lebanon, citing his complaints about the conditions of his detention.

The Libyan Ministry of Justice said Hannibal had the right to be released without any restrictions or conditions because the charges against him were not proven.

It also called on the relevant authorities in Lebanon to indicate in an official letter that the conditions of Hannibal’s detention had been improved.

“We are communicating with political parties, international and regional human rights’ organizations to ensure that the Lebanese authorities assume their responsibilities toward Hannibal Gaddafi and that he obtains his rights and freedom.” The Ministry remarked.
