Libyan Parliament approves new roadmap, setting elections’ date in 14 months

Libya’s House of Representatives (HoR) has approved a new roadmap for the political process, setting elections date in 14 months from the date of constitutional declaration amendment.

This new development came on Monday in a session allocated for the decision on the roadmap committee recommendations for the upcoming stage in the Libyan political process and for the candidacy presentation of Prime Minister incumbents to replace current PM Abdul-Hamid Dbeibah.

During the session, the ex Interior Minister Fathi Bashagha and another candidate, Khalid Al-Bayas, received the most recommendations by HoR members for the position of Prime Minister.

The HoR Speaker, Aqila Saleh, said the two candidates’ bids will be sent to the High Council of State for recommendation and on Thursday, the HoR will vote to elect one to head a new government that replaces or modifies Dbeibah’s cabinet.
