Libyan Parliament gives confidence to Bashagha’s government

The Libyan House of Representatives (HoR) has given confidence to the government formation of Fathi Bashagha to replace the Government of National Unity of Abdul Hamid Dbeibah by a majority vote of 92 members out of 101 attending ones, according to an announcement by the Speaker of the HoR, Aqila Saleh.

A number of politicians and even lawmakers cast doubt on the procedure and the situation in which the vote was made by the HoR Speaker Aqial Saleh, saying the session didn’t reach quorum and only 70 not 101 members attended.

Members of the HoR, Mohammed Lino, and Abdullah Heneish also expressed skepticism about the quorum and said only 78 members voted at the session that was aired live on TV, saying Libyans had seen the fabrication.

The HoR-approved government headed by Bashagha consists of 30 ministers, 6 state ministers, 3 deputy prime ministers and the prime minister himself – a total of 40 cabinet members.
