Libyan parliament postpones budget approval to late July

The spokesman for the Libyan House of Representatives (HoR), Abdullah Blehiq, said discussions about approving the 2021 budget bill were suspended on Tuesday until after Eid Al-Adha (July 20-24) to get a full quorum for the voting.

Bliheq said some HoR members rejected the fact that the session lacked quorum for voting on the budget bill, referring the issue to the constitutional and legislative committee, which said there must be 120 members to vote for the budget bill.

The legislative committee said that at the Tuesday session, there were only 82 members and some of them rejected the budget, thus the process was delayed till after Eid Al-Adha.
