Libyan PM discusses stability and elections with European Foreign Ministers

The Libyan Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity (GNU), Abdul-Hamid Dbeibah, met with the visiting Foreign Ministers of France, Italy and Germany in Tripoli in the presence of the Foreign Minister, Najla Al-Mangoush.

The German foreign Minister, Heiko Maas, Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio and the French Foreign Minister, Jean-Yves Le Drian, arrived in Tripoli on Thursday and held a press conference with Al-Mangoush before meeting Dbeibah.

The European officials congratulated Dbeibha and all Libyans on starting the implementation of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum’s roadmap and ending division by a united executive authority across Libya.

“Our visit to Libya today is a unified European message that speaks of keenness on the country’s stability and support for the GNU to achieve its targets and abide by its commitments to the Libyan people.” The European Foreign Ministers said, according to the media office of the GNU.

Dbeibah reiterated to the European officials his appreciation of their countries’ roles in support for the Libyan roadmap, reiterating that Libya is ready for more cooperation with European partners in different fields, such as the return of European firms to resume their projects in Libya and the resumption of flights from Libya to Europe and vice versa.

The Libyan Prime Minister also urged the European Foreign Ministers to boost their countries’ diplomatic presence in Tripoli and help Libya in the fight against illegal immigration.
