Libyan PM receives message from Al-Burhan as Sudanese refugees’ numbers shoot up

The Libyan Prime Minister, Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, has received a verbal message from the President of Sudan, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan. The message was delivered by the Sudanese ambassador to Libya, Ibrahim Ahmed, who met with Dbeibah in Tripoli on Tuesday.

The meeting was attended by the Sudanese political attaché and the Libyan Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, Adel Jumua.

The Sudanese ambassador hailed the facilitations provided by Libya to Sudanese refugees by admitting them to schools and universities, among other actions. He also discussed the status quo in Sudan and reiterated Libya’s vital role in reaching calm in the current conflict in the neighboring country.

Dbeibah reiterated support for the Sudanese people and vowed to continue to provide assistance to those inside Libya, saying he had instructed all government institutions to give the necessary help to Sudanese refugees.

Meanwhile, the spokesman for Al-Kufra municipality – which has a border with Sudan – Abdullah Suleiman said the number of displaced Sudanese people coming into the city was taking a hike due to the ongoing war in there, warning that the city’s stock of foods and medicines could not cover this number of displaced people, let alone the security fears.
