Libya’s 5+5 JMC to meet next week to trigger points of agreement

The member of the Libyan 5+5 Joint Military Commission (JMC) for the Government of National Accord (GNA) Mukhtar Al-Nagasa said the JMC is working on holding a meeting next week to start the implementation of the points of agreement.

Al-Nagasa told Libya Alahrar TV on Sunday that the meeting will go over the preparations of reopening the coastal road and the withdrawal of all forces five kilometers from their current positions.

He also said that the 5+5 JMC had reached agreements on many issues, including the ongoing military reinforcements in Sirte and Jufra, adding that the meeting could be held at the end of December.

Al-Nagasa urged the participants of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum to reach an agreement to facilitate the work of the 5+5 JMC and end conflict and division in the country.

Meanwhile, representatives form the GNA at the 5+5 JMC said they had coordinated for the start of reopening the coastal road.

The 5+5 JMC said in a meeting with the member of the Presidential Council Ahmed Maiteeq that preparations were underway for the reopening of road linking east and west Libya through Sirte.

The step was taken, according to the 5+5 JMC representatives, to alleviate the suffering of the people and allow them an easy and proper transportation across the country.

In the meantime, the GNA’s 5+5 JMC representative explained to Maiteeq the process of the implementation of the 5+5 JMC agreement.

The media office of the GNA, moreover; reported Maiteeq as urging the 5+5 JMC to continue to work on implementing all of the points of agreement.
