Libya’s Foreign Ministry: UAE, Egypt’s support for Haftar is the biggest violation of Arab League’s charter

The Libyan Foreign Ministry of the Government of National Accord (GNA) said the statement of the Secretary General of the Arab League Ahmed Aboul Gheit, which interpreted the meaning of external intervention in Libya as only foreign (excluding Arab countries), was flawed and at odds with the charter of the Arab League.

The Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the support of Arab countries like the United Arab Emirates and Egypt for Khalifa Haftar’s forces that are carrying attacks on civilians in Tripoli and other cities is the biggest violation of the Arab League’s charter.

The statement added that the Secretary General of the Arab League should have prioritized his tasks to include working on resolving conflicts in the Arab world, yet the Libyan Foreign Ministry didn’t notice any initiatives by Aboul Gheit to help halt the aggression on Tripoli.
