In a new major blow to Khalifa Haftar’s militias, the Libyan Army forces under the command of the Government of National Accord (GNA) have seized most parts of Sorman city in the western region, according to spokesman Mohammed Gununu.
Gununu said on Monday that GNA forces had retaken the city and were chasing the remaining terrorist militias of Haftar outside Sorman after delivering them heavy losses of fighters and military equipment.
According to the Libyan Army spokesman, GNA forces have seized many military vehicles and ammunitions after storming into Haftar militias’ positions and operations room in Sorman, adding that their operations room has been destroyed.
“This step is one of a series set by Operation Peace Storm that aims at responding to Haftar’s continuing attacks on civilians in Tripoli.” Gununu remarked.
