Libya’s GNA recaptures entire Tripoli region as Haftar’s militias flee

After over 14 months of heavy fighting in southern Tripoli, the Libyan Army forces under the command of the Government of National Accord (GNA) have seized full control of all the administrative borders of Tripoli and liberated all south Tripoli districts as Khalifa Haftar’s defeated terrorist militias fled toward Tarhouna.

The spokesman for the Libyan Army under the command of the GNA, Mohammed Gununu, confirmed that the GNA forces had seized Qasir Benghashir, Wadi Rabea, Sabea, Ain Zara and the rest of southern Tripoli areas previously held by Haftar’s militias.

He added that the defeated militias loyal to warlord Haftar had fled toward Tarhouna city and Al-Urban town, adding that GNA forces will continue the battle to liberate Tarhouna and end the presence of Haftar’s militias in western Libya.

Photos and footage of Libya Army forces under the command of GNA had been circulating on social media showing the Libyan Army forces all around southern Tripoli districts as Haftar’s militias fled.
