Libya’s HoR to convene in Tobruk to swear in GNU

The spokesman for the Libyan House of Representatives (HoR), Abdullah Bliheq, said the HoR session to swear in the Government of National Unity (GNU) will be held in Tobruk not Benghazi.

On Thursday, Bliheq reiterated that the HoR was ready to convene a swearing in session for the cabinet of the Government of National Unity next Monday.

Bliheq told Libya Alharar TV that the session should have a full quorum in order for the ministers of the GNU to be sworn in, adding that an airplane transportation will be available to take HoR members to the meeting and return them on the same day.

He also indicated that after swearing in the ministers, the HoR’s session to endorse a budget for the GNU will be dependent on the readiness of the GNU itself, adding that things will be clearer next Monday.

The HoR gave confidence to the Government of National Unity Wednesday with a vote of majority of the attendees in Sirte.

The Government of National Unity, headed by Abdul-Hamid Dbeibah, won confidence by 132 votes including the vote of the Speaker of the HoR, Aqila Saleh.

Dbeibah vowed in a brief speech after winning confidence that he will do his best to work as per the schedule that shall end by holding general elections on December 24, 2021.
