The member of the Libyan House of Representatives (HoR), Abu Bakr Baira, said the next week’s session of the parliament will be in Sirte after receiving approval from the 5+5 Joint Military Commission (JMC).
Baira told Libya Alahrar TV on Saturday that the HoR had coordinated with the Sirte municipality for the upcoming session, adding that they had also reserved a hotel for the event.
He also indicated that the HoR session will see the election of a new Presidency: Speaker and Deputies from Fezzan region (south Libya) in addition to discussing granting confidence to the new executive authority’s Government of National Unity.
In the meantime, the member of the 5+5 Joint Military Commission, Mukhtar Naqasa, said they were not officially informed about their role in securing the HoR session that would be held in Sirte, adding that the 5+5 JMC’s tasks “don’t include securing HoR sessions, as per the points of ceasefire agreement, which was signed last October in Geneva”.
