Libya’s Interior Ministry establishes “Supreme Security Operation Room”

The Interior Minister of the Government of National Accord (GNA), Fathi Bashagha, has reiterated the need to establish a Supreme Security Operations Room, which will be announced on January 17.

Bashagha described the Supreme Security Operations Room as a national leadership that has coordination with regional powers, and its work is locally implemented.

A statement by the Interior Ministry said Bashagha’s remarks came in a meeting with Rose Partners training firm’s officials, who reiterated that the aim of establishing the room is to implement the Interior Ministry’s police ad security tasks.

In a presentation for the Interior Ministry, the firm’s officials said establishing the room would allow the Interior Minister to acquire the authorities of the government on behalf of the GNA in order to hild accountable anyone who would commit illegal acts at the Ministry

The firm also said that establishing the Supreme Security Operations Room for the Interior Ministry would facilitate communication among all apparatuses in fighting terrorism and crime.
