Libya’s Iron and Steel Company suspends work to save electricity

Libyan Iron and Steel Company in Misrata has announced suspension of work and operations across all of its factories in order to support the electricity network as per the instructions of the Prime Minister, Abdul-Hamid Dbeibah.

The company said in a statement that this suspension of operations will be costly financially and technically as well as in terms of relations with the consumers and the suppliers, in addition to causing a spike in prices on the market.

Dbeibah decided to suspend the operations of the Iron and Steel Company in Misrata on June 29, saying this could save 150 megawatts that would be added to the network.
