Libya’s Military Prosecution calls for halting Gaddafi, Haftar’s presidential bids

The Libyan Deputy Military Prosecutor, Mohammed Gharouda, said the Military Prosecutor’s Office hasn’t yet received a reply to the letter demanding the High National Elections Commission (HNEC) to halt the candidacy of Saif Al-Islam Gaddafi and Khalifa Haftar for their implication in war crimes.

Gharouda told Libya Alahrar TV that the Military Prosecutor’s Office told the HNEC about the criminal lawsuits field against Haftar and Gaddafi, adding that there are also civil cases against them.

Haftar is implicated in lawsuits of imprescriptible murders and other crimes, in addition to damaging vital state institutions, Gharouda said, adding that they will take all needed actions as per the law if the HNEC’s reply isn’t received shortly.

The Military Prosecutor, Masoud Erhouma, has already filed a request with the HNEC to halt the candidacy process of Saif Al-Islam Gaddafi and Haftar until they go through interrogation over the cases lodged in courts against them.
