Libya’s PM almost finalized unity government formation

The spokesman of the soon-to-be-formed Government of National Unity, Mohammed Hammoda, has told Libya Alahrar TV that the Prime Minister-elect, Abdul-Hamid Dbeibah, will finalize the cabinet formation today -Thursday.

Hammoda indicated that the Government of National Unity prioritizes holding general elections on time: December 24, 2021.

The spokesman also added that Dbeibah’s statement about the value of the Libyan passport was an indication of the need for regaining Libya’s sovereignty.

Meanwhile, 84 Libyan House of Representatives (HoR) members have agreed in a joint statement not to take any actions that will hinder the endorsement of the Government of National Unity.

The member of the House of Representatives pledged support for the newly elected executive authority and it’s soon-to-be-formed Government of National Unity without any preconditions.

The HoR members called in their statement Wednesday on other members to attend a full-quorum session in which the Government of National Unity would be presented by the Prime Minister, Abdul-Hamid Dbeibah.

The statement also called on the newly elected Prime Minister to form a unity government of competence, expertise, professionalism and honesty, urging him to allow an opportunity for new personalities.
