Libya’s Presidential Council to launch roadmap to end political impasse

The Libyan Presidential Council has tasked deputy Abdullah Al-Lafi to hold urgent discussions with political parties across Libya to reach consensus on ending the current political deadlock in the country.

The Presidential Council said in a brief statement on Tuesday that the plan will be a roadmap that ends transitional phases via parliamentary and presidential elections within a specific timeline.

The statement added that the roadmap will also boost national consensus and trust among all Libyan parties.

“Maintaining unity of Libya, ending signs of war and partition, boosting peace and security, limiting foreign intervention and pushing for a national solution are major components of the roadmap.” The statement reads.
