Ministry of Transport signs contracts with Turkish, Egyptian companies to complete work at Tripoli Airport

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport, Wissam Al-Idrisi, said that the ministry had imposed fines and cancelled contracts of some contractors due to the delay in implementing the Tripoli International Airport project.

Al-Idrisi stated that they had contracted a coalition of Egyptian-Turkish-Libyan companies to complete the airport. He also referred to the completion of the iron structure of Tripoli International Airport.

Meanwhile, the Director General of Tripoli International Airport, Mohammed Abdulkader, said that a test flight was conducted at Tripoli Airport, after a hiatus for nearly 10 years.

He said that the navigation tower had been provided and tested, as well as the control tower, and the airport had been secured from the inside and outside.

He added that flights would resume at Tripoli Airport in order to operate it partially to support Mitiga International Airport in operating some flights.

Abdulkader said that companies had been working to complete the rest of the airport’s accessories in the best possible way, such as establishing the passenger hall and repairing the runway and towers.
