More than 10,000 migrants have crossed the sea from Libya to Italy since the beginning of the year

The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated that the number of migrants arriving in Italy has decreased by approximately 58.5% compared to last year.

The Italian Foreign Ministry explained, according to what was reported by Nova Agency, that the number of irregular migrants arriving on the Italian coast via the southern Mediterranean has been estimated at just over 20,000 migrants from the beginning of the year until now, while in the same period last year, it was more than 48,000.

Nova reported that the number of arrivals to Italy from Libya was higher than those from Tunisia since the beginning of the year as statistics recorded the arrival of more than 10,000 coming from Libya alone.

The agency indicated a decrease compared to last year which recorded higher numbers, especially regarding those coming from the eastern coasts.
