Oil production falls below one million barrels, while gas supply to Europe continues

The Minister of Oil of the Government of National Unity, Mohamed Aoun, has stated that the current level of oil production was recorded at 950 thousand barrels per day after the Sharara and El Feel fields were closed.

Aoun added, in an interview with CNBC Arabia, that the level of Libyan gas exports to Europe in average is between 300 and 400 million cubic feet, according to him.

The Minister of Oil and Gas indicated that there are financial claims they are working to recover, stressing that foreign companies do not object to them, which amounts to approximately $500 million.

Aoun added that there is an embargo on frozen Libyan funds in America estimated at $30 billion and a similar number in Europe. He also pointed out that power stations use one billion cubic feet of gas daily, noting that Libyan gas supplies to Europe have not been disrupted so far and that the Mellitah complex is still operating.

In his response to the possibility of Emirati companies working in Libyan fields, Aoun said that they welcome Arab companies, and the Libyan National Oil Corporation is working on a new exploratory round in which Arab companies can participate.
