Operation Snake Hunt won’t target any brigades inside Tripoli, an official source from the Interior Ministry of the Government of National Accord (GNA) has explained, denying rumors on media outlets that have said othrwaise.
The official source told Libya Alahrar TV Tuesday Operation Snake Hunt is aimed at targeting terrorists, human traffickers and fuel smugglers outside Tripoli.
The Interior Minister, Fathi Bashagha, told The Associated Press that he hoped the US would back an upcoming operation in the west “to finish off terrorist elements that have infiltrated Libya,” saying “Turkey has already pledged support” and stressed that “the security and stability of Libya is important for Europe and the US”.
In the meantime, The Defense Ministry of the GNA confirmed that it had not been informed by the Interior Ministry about Operation Snake Hunt, adding in a statement last Sunday that neither the western nor Tripoli military zones’ commanders had been informed about the operation.
