Paris to host an international meeting on Libya

The UAE newspaper AlIttihad quoted an unnamed diplomatic source as saying that Paris will host an international meeting on Libya next week with the participation of the United Nations, Germany, France, Italy, the United States and the United Kingdom.

The newspaper indicated that the meeting will discuss the political and military developments in Libya, the challenges facing holding elections, and review the outputs of the (6 + 6) committee and the remarks made by the House of Representatives (HoR).

The AlIttihad added that the Paris meeting will discuss ways to organize the electoral process through a unified executive authority, suggesting the possibility of activating the initiative of the UN envoy to form a high-level committee to prepare for elections.

Last month, Paris hosted the meetings of the (5 + 5) Military Committee for two days, before French President Emmanuel Macron awarded the committee members a Medal of Honor for their “role in the ceasefire”.
