The Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah held a meeting with the Minister of Sports, Abdel Shafea Al-Jawaifi, and the President of the Libyan Olympic Committee, Jamal Azzarroug, on Sunday, to follow up on the preparations of the Ministry of Sports and the Libyan Olympic Committee to participate in the upcoming Summer Olympic Games 2024, which will be held in Paris.
Azzarroug said that Libya would compete in five individual sports: swimming, athletics, rowing, weightlifting, and archery, commending the support provided by the Government of National Unity to ensure effective and positive participation in the Olympics.
Azzaroug also stressed to the Libyan Prime Minister the readiness of the Libyan delegation in all aspects ahead of the start of the Olympic Games.
The Olympic torch relay began on Sunday in Paris with retired French football star Thierry Henry being the first to carry it. The opening ceremony will be on July 26.
