The US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has accused Russia of working to destabilize Libya and escalate tensions, saying in a presser in Greece that Washington and Athens are working to improve naval cooperation to block Moscow’s malign activities in the region.
Pompeo said on Twitter on last Wednesday that Washington had targeted a network connected to Russian operative Yevgeniy Prigozhin – owner of Wagner Group – working to advance Russia’s malign influence in the Central African Republic and Libya.
Pompeo added that the network of the Wagner Group boss, who is linked to the Kremlin and known as Putin’s Chef, had been even working beyond Libya.
“We will continue to promote accountability for those who support Russian malign activities.” The US Secretary of State added.
