Qatar’s Shura Council welcomes Libya’s ceasefire agreement

The Head of the High Council of State of Libya Khalid Al-Mishri, and his accompanying delegation, visited the Qatari Shura Council in Doha on Sunday, and met with the Speaker of the Shura Council Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud.

During the meeting, the two officials reviewed the cooperation relations between the two brotherly countries, especially in the parliamentary field and ways to support and develop them, in addition to discussing the latest developments in the situation in Libya.

During the meeting, the Speaker of the Shura Council renewed welcoming the ceasefire agreement in all Libyan territories, affirming the firm positions of the State of Qatar towards Libya in support of its unity and sovereignty and the internationally recognized Government of National Accord.

He also expressed his hope that a comprehensive political solution would soon be found and would achieve stability in Libya in accordance with the Skhirat Agreement signed in 2015, the relevant UN Security Council resolutions, and the results of the Berlin conference.

Meanwhile, Al-Mishri praised the stances of the State of Qatar and its standing by the Libyan people as well as its legitimate government, hailing the Qatari benevolent efforts for the sake of stability in Libya, preserving its territorial integrity and achieving the aspirations of its people.
