Representatives from the South criticize the UN envoy’s initiative

Representatives from the South in the High Council of State (HCS) and the House of Representatives (HoR) have expressed their concerns over the UN Envoy’s initiative, which they claim marginalizes and excludes the Fezzan region.

In a press statement, the representatives pointed out that the initiative lacks representation of Fezzan, citing the inclusion of personalities that do not represent the region’s interests. The representatives believe that it does not align with the aspirations of the people of Fezzan, and have called for Fezzan to be an essential part of the Libyan scene, similar to other parties.

The statement urged the UN envoy to find an appropriate formula that ensures the meeting of all parties and factions of the Libyan people under one umbrella based on peaceful coexistence, equality and parity, as the goal is to end the transitional stages and reach a consensus.

The statement stressed the necessity to include all parties and regions of the country.
