The Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stressed Sunday the need for the United Nations to support the settlement of the crisis in Libya under the umbrella of the Security Council and in the presence of all political parties.
In a joint press conference in Cairo with his Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shoukry, Lavrov stressed the importance of legally appointing a new UN envoy to Libya to resolve all outstanding issues in accordance with Security Council resolutions and international organizations.
The Egyptian FM indicated that he discussed with the Russian counterpart a number of common regional issues, including the crisis in Libya, Syria and Iraq, stressing the need to restore security and stability in all areas of tension in the Arab region.
