Russian military aircraft flew from Syria to eastern Libya: Itamilradar

Itamilradar website, which is specialized in monitoring military aircraft, said it had depicted a Russian Air Force Tupolev Tu-154M (reg. RA-85042 – callsign RFF8601) that departed from Damascus, Syria, and landed somewhere in eastern Libya (probably at the Al-Khadim air base).

The website said the signal of the Russian aircraft was lost around the evening when the aircraft was descending.

“The aircraft had originally taken off from Moscow and made a stopover in Damasco. It is interesting to note that usually these flights (which have a fairly regular frequency) stop at the Latakia air base and not at the airport of the Syrian capital.” Itamilradar said.

It also suggested that at the moment, Sunday evening, the aircraft does not seem to be taking off again from Libya to Russia.

It is worth mentioning that the UAE is running an airbase in eastern Libya (Al-Khadim Airbase) in which it operates different missions for Khalifa Haftar’s militias, including drone attacks, according to UN and international reports.
