Russian Wagner mercenaries pull out from Bani Walid, head south, mayor says

The mayor of Bani Walid Salim Nuwair has confirmed that large military convoys of Russian Wagner Group mercenaries have left the town southward.

Nuwair told Libya Alahrar TV that Bani Walid had been emptied from any Russian mercenaries who fled south Tripoli frontlines.

“Werfalla tribes don’t use foreigners for power and don’t endanger civilians in a Libyan-Libyan war. Our townsmen proved to the whole world that there are Russians backing up Haftar in Libya after documenting them in videos and photos.” Bani Walid’s mayor said.

Meanwhile, Burkan Al-Ghadab operation said a convoy of Russian and Syrian mercenaries had left Bani Walid to south Libya, accompanied by four Pantsir-S1 anti-aircraft systems.

The withdrawal of the mercenaries came hours after the deadline set by Butkan Al-Ghadab operation for the aggressors to pull out from Tarhouna, Bani Walid and Nessma areas.
