Saif Gaddafi’s attorney appointed ICC Prosecutor

The attorney representing Saif Al-Islam, the son of Muammar Gaddafi, who was toppled and killed during 2011 revolution in Libya, Karim Khan, was elected last Friday a Prosecutor for the International Criminal Court (ICC) to replace Fatou Bensouda.

Khan will be an ICC Prosecutor for a term of nine years starting from June 16, 2021. He was appointed after a win against three other candidates in a confidential voting process.

The British attorney was representing Saif Gaddafi and Gaddafi-era henchman, Mahmoudi Al-Baghdadi. He worked in other major cases in Kenya, Sudan and Libya within the jurisdiction of the ICC.
