Sirte meeting attendees agree sovereign authorities should operate under HoR

The Libyan government, designated by the House of Representatives (HoR), said that Sirte meeting had discussed the proposed budget bill, and the mechanisms needed to approve the budget on legal grounds.

The Libyan government clarified in a statement that the meeting attendees agreed on the necessity of compliance of all financial and supervisory authorities of the House of Representatives to the decisions of the legislative authority and its laws, stressing the need for all financial, supervisory and judicial authorities to abide by the legislation and decisions of the House of Representatives in accordance with the constitutional laws in force.

“We agreed on the importance of paying attention to the energy sector and raising the capabilities of its infrastructure to ensure increased production and the resumption of oil exports in accordance with legal and objective laws that ensure that oil revenues are not wasted or politically exploited.” The government added.

It also said that the two presidencies of the government and the House of Representatives agreed that the government would carry out its work from Sirte to provide services to all citizens.

The meeting was attended by HoR Speaker Aqila Saleh, Prime Minister-designate Fathi Bashagha, Minister of Planning and Finance Osama Hammad, HoR Finance Committee Chairman Omar Tantoush, and a delegation from the Central Bank of Libya as well as other sovereign bodies.
