Source to Alahrar: Al-Mishri, Aqila Saleh discussed constitution referendum

A source from the Libyan High Council of State (HCS) told Libya Alahrar TV on Saturday that the meeting between Head of the HCS Khalid Al-Mishri and the Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR) Aqila Saleh in Morocco had discussed several issues, including the constitution draft and referendum.

The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said Saleh and Al-Mishri were at accord regarding the timeline needed for devising laws before constitutional referendum, adding that if the timeline wasn’t sufficient, the current interim government would be kept in position, but if it was long enough for the process, a reshuffling procedure would take place.

According to the source, the majority of the HCS reiterated the need for trust building measures with the HoR to prevent any efforts to derail elections, stressing the need for a real partnership with the HoR in devising election laws and the roadmap.

In the meantime, the spokesman for the HCS, Mohammed Abdul Nasser, said earlier that any meeting that is held in an unofficial manner between Al-Mishri and Saleh, isn’t binding for the HCS.
