The Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR), Aqila Saleh, has met with the Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in Ankara to discuss the latest developments in the country and the constitutional basis for elections, as well as the need to avoid violence.
The meeting at the Turkish Parliament was attended by the Deputy Head of the Presidential Council, Abdullah Al-Lafi, as well as the Speaker of the Turkish Parliament, Mustafa Şentop.
In a meeting with Şentop, Saleh said the HoR was keen on ensuring peace and stability in Libya, adding that the priority for the new HoR-approved government, Fathi Bashagha’s, was to hold parliamentary and presidential elections.
Şentop, on the other hand, said Turkey calls on all Libyan parties to exercise restraint as it continues to carry out its role for the stability and prosperity of the Libyan people.
