Sporadic clashes with heavy weapons on Yarmouk frontline in southern Tripoli

A military source has told Libya Alahrar that sporadic clashes with heavy weapons have been raging on Yarmouk frontline from Saturday night to Sunday morning.

The source added Sunday to Libya Alahrar that the forces under the command of the government of National Accord (GNA) are fully prepared to repel any advance endeavors by Khalifa Haftar’s forces.

“GNA forces are all holding on to their positions on all axes on the frontline.” The source remarked.

In the meantime, the commander of Ain Zara, Yousif Al-Ameen, said Yarmouk, Al-Khalla, and Al-Khallatat frontlines all saw heavy clashes on Friday with both medium and heavy weapons, adding that GNA forces had made some remarkable advances on several frontlines; causing Haftar’s forces losses in fighters and military vehicles as well as weaponry.

GNA forces have announced that the targets of the military operation in the vicinity of Tarhouna were completed successfully, adding that the forces participating in the operation have returned to their positions.

Meanwhile, the Chief of General Staff of the Libyan Army under the GNA’s command, Mohammed Al-Sharif, said their forces were still positioned in some locations in the vicinity of Tarhouna after advancing on the city on Friday.

“Our forces are preparing for the second phase of the operation with the aim of entering the center of Tarhouna city in order to liberate it from the armed gangs.” Al-Sharif told Libya Alahrar TV.

GNA forces have been advancing on different frontlines over the last days after receiving orders from the field operations room and after military reinforcement arrived on frontlines in the wake of the announcement of full mobilization of forces by several cities to help GNA units defeat attacking forces that have been leading an offensive against Tripoli since April 04, according to statements by Burkan Al-Ghadab (Volcano of Rage) operation.
