Supreme Council of Libyan Amazigh refuses electoral laws issued by the HoR

The Supreme Council of Libyan Amazigh has issued a statement demanding justice in the division and distribution of electoral districts, taking into account international standards. The council has accused the UN mission of participating in “constitutional chaos”.

The Council has rejected the recent electoral laws issued by the House of Representatives (HoR), considering them to be lacking in the minimum international and national standards. The council added that the division of electoral districts in this way confirms the existence of malicious intentions targeting the rights of certain demographic groups, calling for fairness and justice in the division and distribution of districts and taking into account international standards.

In the same statement, the Supreme Council accused the United Nations mission of participating in what it called “constitutional chaos”, considering that it is being manipulated by internal and external parties. The Council also called on the United Nations mission to perform its role in investigating and confirming adherence to international standards when drafting electoral laws.
