Tarhouna in utter uncertainty as Haftar’s militias escape eastward

Sources from Tarhouna have reported to Libya Alharar a state of fear and uncertainty inside the city as Libyan Army forces under the command of the Government of National Accord (GNA) advance to eliminate what’s left of Khalifa Haftar’s militias who fled Tripoli.

The sources said the residents inside Tarhouna are greatly dismayed at Haftar’s militias whom they said had involved Tarhouna in a losing war against the state.

In the meantime, the sources said clashes between Al-Kani militias and Gaddafi loyalists were reported Thursday afternoon in the city of Tarhouna as most Haftar’s militia fighters fled eastward.

“Large number of fighters of Brigade 12 and Interior Front of Haftar’s militias fled and the city of Tarhouna on the verge of collapse from the inside.” The sources added, saying 9th Brigade and Al-Kani militias are now using civilians as human shields in densely populated areas in fear to be targeted by airstrikes of GNA forces.

The sources added that families in Tarhouna started to leave the city toward Bani Walid and Al-Urban as Al-Kani militias threatened to kill anyone leaving the city.
