The Government and Presidential Council stress the need to keep the military away from politics

Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, the head of the Government of National Unity (GNU), emphasized the importance of supporting the military institution and unifying it to perform its assigned tasks in defending the nation and distancing it from political polarization. This statement was made during a meeting between Dbeibah, Musa Al-Koni, a member of the Presidential Council, and Muhammad Al-Haddad, Chief of Staff, with officers of the Sabha Military Region and officers of the Fourth Border Guard Sector.

The meeting also highlighted the need to strengthen the role of the military in maintaining security and extending state control over border crossings to achieve stability in all regions of Libya. The Region’s officers provided a briefing on the nature of their work. They reviewed problems and difficulties that hindered their operations, including a lack of capabilities that led to weak security control in border areas.

Moussa Al-Koni, a member of the Presidential Council, stressed the necessity of continuing work to build a real army that preserves sovereignty as this is essential to ensure stability in Libya.
