The Ministers of Labor of the Sahel-Saharan states discuss migration and labor challenges

The Minister of Labor and Rehabilitation in the Government of National Unity, Ali Al-Abed, said that the basis of the call for the conference of Labor Ministers of the Sahel-Saharan states, which was held in Tripoli, is to consider the economic impact of the migration file and not hold Libya responsible as it is merely a transit country.

Al-Abed, in his statement to Libya Alahrar TV, said that the issue of migration is a constant topic facing Libya in international forums and hinders efforts to achieve economic stability, stressing the need for the regional countries to cooperate with Libya to overcome these obstacles.

The Minister pointed out to the importance that foreign workers represent to the Libyan economy, especially in the fields of construction, contracting and maintenance, adding that Libya seeks to legally regulate the presence and movement of the workforce by issuing exit and return visas and resuming flights between Libya and the Sahel-Saharan countries.
