The Supreme Court postpones consideration of an appeal that returns the Abu Salim case to the civil court

The Fifth Criminal Circuit of the Supreme Court postponed consideration of an appeal submitted to return the Abu Salim massacre case from the military judiciary to the civil judiciary. The court decided to reconsider the appeal at its session scheduled for February 29.

In 2021, the Tripoli Court of Appeal decided to transfer the Abu Salim prison massacre case from the civil judiciary to the military judiciary. For his part, Mustafa Al-Majdoub, advisor to the Association of Victims of the Abu Salim Prison Massacre, said that they were surprised that the appeal submitted to the Supreme Court regarding the Abu Salim Prison massacre case was returned to pleading again, and a hearing was scheduled for next February 29.

Al-Majdoub added, in a statement to Libya Al-Ahrar TV, that the ruling was scheduled to be pronounced today by the Fifth Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court. Al-Majdoub considered that the national judiciary seems to not be able to resolve the Abu Salim prison case and that it continues to procrastinate and postpone.

Al-Majdoub called on the Supreme Court to quickly decide on the appeal and return it to the Tripoli Court of Appeal for further consideration.
