Trump’s attorney Jesse Binnall prepares Haftar’s defense in war crimes’ cases

Preliminary hearings in the three legal proceedings in Virginia targeting Khalifa Haftar for war crimes in Libya will be held in July and August. His lawyer is a longtime supporter of Trump, and those of his opponents are close to the Democratic Party, Africa Intelligence has reported.

It added that Representing Khalifa Haftar since February in three war crimes proceedings against him in the United States, Jesse Binnall is actively preparing his client’s defense.

“The Virginia federal court will hold preliminary hearings on July 21 for two of the complaints, brought by Muna al-Suyid – whose father and three brothers were killed in Benghazi – and a Canadian-Libyan national, Ali Abdalla Hamza . On August 04, a preliminary hearing is set for the case brought in particular by the relatives of Msaddek Tunalli, who died in a bombing in Tripoli in 2019. For the latter, Jesse Binnall reiterated, in a response submitted on July 12, the main line of defense of his client.” The report says.

The accusers of Khalifa Haftar, whose action is coordinated in particular by the Libyan-American activist Emadeddin Muntasser, are represented in part by Faisal Gill, a lawyer close to the Democratic Party. They are also advised, outside the court, by Mark Zaid, who is known to have defended the whistleblower at the origin of the impeachment procedure of Donald Trump, accused of having tried to monetize American aid to Ukraine in exchange for elements incriminating the son of Joe Biden, Hunter.
