The Tunisian President Kais Saied has explained in his address to the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum in Tunis that Libya’s solution must be a peaceful one, adding that Libyans themselves are capable of reaching such a solution.
Saied said in the Libyan Dialogue opening statement that the meeting Monday is part of the Tunisian and UN efforts to find a solution to the Libyan conflict, adding that there should be firm and defined timelines for implementing the agreed upon solutions.
“Regaining Libya’s sovereignty and stability is the only real solution in the war-ravaged country.” Saied added, indicating that the political dialogue is a new legitimacy for Libyans who cannot be placed under any kind of trusteeship.
In the meantime, the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum has kick-started in Tunis in the presence of 75 Libyan participants, foreign stakeholders and the UN acting envoy Stephanie Williams as well as the Tunisian President.
