Turkey says backs up political solutions in Libya

The Turkish presidential spokesman, Ibrahim Kalin, said on Friday that Ankara “is in favor of a political solution in Libya,” adding that it has never been with the military one.

Speaking to reporters after his official visit to Berlin, Kalin said Libyan warlord Khalifa Haftar violated the Berlin agreement like many others before it, reiterating that the Libyan Government of National Accord has recently regained strategic locations and cities from Haftar’s militias.

“Of course, the solution must be political, not military. It is important that this becomes a step that will pave the way for a political solution. Turkey is in favor of a political solution here.” Kalin said.

Kalin reaffirmed that Turkey will continue to support Libya’s GNA led by Fayez Al-Sarraj.
