Turkish Foreign Minister: Ankara to take all necessary measures to prevent Libya’s division

The Turkish Foreign Minister Mavlut Çavuşoğlu has warned that Libya could slide into the Syrian-model of chaos, adding in his speech to the Justice and Development (AK) Party on Sunday that if Syria has become like Syria, then the other countries in the region will fall in the same scenario.

The Turkish Foreign Minister added that Ankara will take the necessary steps to prevent division and chaos in Libya, stressing the importance of the military and security MoU that was signed between Turkey and the Government of National Accord in Libya.

Days ago, the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Ankara was ready to send troops to Libya after the parliament passes the deployment bill on January 08-09 in the wake of the Libyan official request.

On December 21, the Turkish parliament approved the military and security MoU with Libya, whose GNA approved as well the deal a day earlier.

The Libyan Presidential Council endorsed on December 05 the maritime cooperation MoU with Turkey and so did the Turkish parliament.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Head of the Presidential Council signed on November 27 two MoUs in security and military cooperation and in maritime boundaries demarcation to secure the rights of the two countries as per the international law.
