Turkish Parliament readying bill to allow sending troops to Libya

Turkey’s presidential spokesman Ibrahim Kalin said Parliament is working on drafting a bill to allow the deployment of troops to Libya.

Kalin said on Tuesday that any plan excluding Turkey in the eastern Mediterranean region is impossible, and Turkey will not shrink from steps needed to stand with the Libyan government and its people.

“Turkey will continue to support Libya’s legitimate, internationally recognized government, and will not forsake the Libyan people.” Kalin indicated.

He added that the military support for Khalifa Haftar by foreign countries such as Russia doesn’t help resolve the Libyan conflict.

Meanwhile, the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said his country will boost military support in Libya if necessary and evaluate land, air and marine options to repel the offensive of Haftar’s forces on Tripoli.
