UN envoy, Security Working Group ambassadors discuss Libya’s peace and stability efforts

The United Nations’ (UN) envoy to Libya, Abdoulaye Bathily, said on X platform that he had met with the Security Working Group Co-Chair Ambassadors from France, Italy, Turkey, United Kingdom and African Union.

Bathily added that they had discussed ways to harness and coordinate efforts of the international community in support of the security track in order to contribute to enabling peace and security in Libya.

“We agreed on the need to maintain momentum in preserving the gains achieved so far, and convene at earliest a [Security Working Group] meeting in Libya.” Bathily explained.

The Security Working Group that has been created from the International Follow-up Committee on the Berlin Conference (I and II) has held two meetings: one in Tripoli and the other in Benghazi in 2024 so far.
