UN envoy “takes note” of Al-Mishri-Saleh agreements in Morocco

The Head of UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) Abdoulaye Bathily said he had taken note of the outcome of the meeting on Friday between the Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR) Aqila Saleh, and Head of High Council of State (HCS) Khalid Al-Mishri, hosted by the Government of Morocco.

According to tweets by UNSMIL, Bathily welcomed the resumption of dialogue between the two chambers and expressed his readiness to discuss the details, modalities and timelines of implementation of their commitments.

Bathily urged all Libyan leaders to engage in an inclusive dialogue as the only way to overcome the current deadlock and meet the aspirations of the Libyan people.

Al-Mishri and Saleh agreed in meeting in Morocco on Friday to implement Bouznika meetings regarding specifying state sovereign positions and unifying executive authority as well as holding presidential and parliamentary elections as per specific legislation.
