UN Fact-Finding Mission: Mass graves in Libya’s Tarhouna since 2016

The UN Fact-Finding Mission in Libya confirmed Monday that it had collected evidence of mass graves of civilians in Tarhouna from 2016 to 2020, calling for its mandate in Libya to be extended so it could conduct investigations into the crimes and violations.

The Chairman of the Fact-Finding Mission Mohammed Aujjar said their investigations had proved that Libyan warring parties as well as mercenaries violated the International Humanitarian Law.

The mission also said that it couldn’t make public the names of the people involved in the crimes now, explaining that it needed an extension of its mandate to carry out more investigations.
