UNICEF: 67% of Derna’s children have had negative behavioral changes since the floods

UNICEF has reported that around 67% of children in Derna have had negative behavioral changes since the floods, such as sleep disturbances, and high levels of stress and anxiety.

In its report covering last November, UNICEF added that its medical teams provided health care to 2,094 children in Derna. The organization indicated that 48% of children are in constant need of psychological and social support services.

UNICEF also pointed out that it provided mental health and psychological support to 2,606 children in November. It also indicated that, since the beginning of the crisis, it has supported restoring and preparing 11 schools in Al-Bayda and Shahat Districts, and 3 schools in Al-Qobba, to help 8,682 children return to school.

The organization explained that its mobile medical teams provided basic health services during the reporting period to 2,094 children and cumulatively to 4,678 individuals since Septemeber.
